At its most basic, Royal Incense is a honeyed frankincense (aka Olibanum) fragrance. Yes there are plenty of other supporting notes including florals, ambers and musks, but for me Royal Incense takes the earthy and resinous facets of frankincense and softens and sweetens it with the honey to the point it is absolutely delectable. Along the way other perfectly balanced notes dance in and out providing a true olfactory trip through wonderland.
I know a lot of people shy away from incense based fragrances because of the sometime intense and smoky nature of them. Even though there is a touch of smokiness to the opening of Royal Incense, the fragrance very quickly morphs into a rich and sweet experience without any of the in-your face aspects sometimes associated with incense heavy perfumes. Rather the transition of the underlying incense from moderately spicy and smokey, to a rosy geranium / sweet lily scent, and finally to the sweet honey overlaying leather, woods and musks is simply a journey I encourage every perfume lover to take.
I’m in love with this fragrance and the house of Omanluxury in general as I’m sure my ravings are clear to see.
